Puberty

The puberty is a stage of human development marking the transition from the Enfance to the Adolescence (fertility). It is announced in particular by a rapid growth and the development of the primary education and secondary sexual characters, with notable behavioral changes. The word comes from Latin pubertas , resulting from a word family which comprises at the same time words relating to the passage at the adulthood and the growth of the hair (cf pubescent ).

Period of puberty

It seems that the phase of puberty, with peak of growth before a stabilization, either specific to the mankind and is not described in particular in the other primates (regular growth). In the same way, the study of the bones of any age of pre-hominiens could not find phase of rapid growth.

For the man

At the man, the study of puberty and particularly the fixing of the period of entry during the puberty time pose a particular problem. The various observers do not get along on the criteria of entry in puberty. Being the physical criteria, the majority of them retain the moult of the voice or the growth of the genitals; others retain a peak of growth in the face of the boys; others finally appearance of the first sperm. Questioned on several forums for teenagers, the boys choose another criterion firstly: appearance of the pubic hairs. As for the functional criterion, it is about the masturbation which, if it is generally related to puberty, can occur very well several years before this one.

  • Starting: generally between 9 and 16 years. The median age of entry in puberty, while being based on the criterion of the appearance of the first pubic hairs, is at the 12 year old neighborhoods. For the woman

  • Starting: generally between 8 and 14 years.
  • Lasted: usually 3 years.
  • Pushed growth: approximately 8 cm per annum, between the phase II. and phase IV.
  • Principal remarkable features: development of the Center S and the Vulva; development of pubic pilosity; beginning of the Menstruation S, which are the usual criterion of puberty at the woman.
  • moults: The voice of the girl becomes more serious on average of a third .

Scale To tan

The morphological evolutions of puberty extend over several years. Their duration and the old one of their provided depend much on individuals with another but follow a constant diagram. James Mourilyan Tanner proposed of it, in 1962, a classification in 5 stages. This classification is currently used as clinical reference. It however is disputed by some.
