Ptolémée de Maurétanie , born about the year 1 av. J. - C., reign of 23 with 40 on the Maurétanie.

He is the son of Juba II (52 av. J. - C. - 23 a. J. - C.), itself wire of the king of Numidie Juba I {{er}}, and of Cléopâtre Séléné (40 av. J. - C. - 6 a. J. - C.), single girl of Cléopâtre VII and Marc Antoine. Ptolémée thus has an at the same time African, Greek and Roman heritage. He is first cousin of the Roman Emperor Claude and cousin resulting from Germain of Néron and Caligula.

Ptolémée and its sister Drusilla receive a Roman education. In the year 19, his/her father appoints it Co-monarch. Four years later, Juba II dies and Ptolémée goes up on the throne. In 24, Ptolémée, with the assistance of the Roman governor, puts an end to the revolt Garamantes and of the mercenary Tacfarinas. For this victory, the Roman Sénat grants to Ptolémée a sceptre in Ivoire and a tunic of triumph, and recognizes it as king, allied and friendly.

He marries Junia Urania, from of which the tradition made either to one freed gréco-Syrian woman, or a family member royal of Émèse. He has towards 37 of them - 39 Drusilla, only child that one knows to him. She will marry Antoine Felix, Procurateur of Judaea, in 52.

In 40, it is invited to Rome by the emperor Caligula. Ptolémée causes the jealousy of this last while carrying a coat of Pourpre, color imperial, during a spectacle of Gladiateur S: it is carried out whereas it goes to Lyon and its kingdom is annexed by Rome. Ptolémée will have been the last of the Dynastie of Ptolémées and last king de Maurétanie.
