Ptolémée Kéraunos (known as “the Lightning”, in regard to its temperament) is the son of Ptolémée I {{er}} Sôtêr and of Eurydice, girl of Antipater. It is briefly king de Macédoine of 281 with 279 av. J. - C.
It leaves the Egypt in 284 because his/her father supports his brother born of Bérénice (the future Ptolémée II). He settles initially in Macedonia near Agathoclès, the son of Lysimaque, which is married with his/her sister Lysandra. However Lysimaque, convinced by the intrigues of his wife Arsinoé, itself girl of Ptolémée and Bérénice, makes put at dead Agathoclès, the heir to the throne, in 282.
Fearing the hatred of his/her half-sister, Ptolémée Kéraunos takes refuge then, with Lysandra, near Séleucos I {{er}} and pushes it against Lysimaque, which is overcome and killed with Couroupédion (281). In September 281, it is made acclaim king de Macédoine by the army. It benefits from it to marry Arsinoé and make at once assassinate the children whom it had had of Lysimaque. In 280, it makes assassinate Séleucos I {{er}} which tried to seize Macedonia and from which the army came to cross the Hellespont. It is combined with Pyrrhus and manages to push back the attacks of Antigone II Gonatas. However in 279, deprived of experiment in the septentrional defense of Macedonia, he succumbs while trying to push back the invasion Celte carried out by Brennos.
