Ptolémée V Philopator (-240/-205) is a Pharaon of the period lagide. He controlled the Egypt -222 with -205 and married his sister Arsinoé {{III}}.

Its epithet, Philopator , mean (by irony) which loves his/her father.

Wire of Ptolémée {{III}} Évergète {{Ier}} and of Bérénice II of Cyrène, it reigns via its ministers Sosibe and Agathoclès, after having killed several members of its family. In the fourth war against the Syria, it lost Séleucie de Piérie, but it is victorious of Antiochos {{III}} with Raphia the June 22nd -217. His/her son Ptolémée {{V}}, still child, succeeds to him his death.

After its reign, Egypt enters during one time of long decline.
