In the Egyptian Mythology, Ptah ( That which opens ) is the demiurge of Memphis, god of the craftsmen and the architects. Ptah is the owner of construction, the metallurgy and the sculpture.

Ptah is the imperial god with Re under the Ancient Empire. It belongs to the five large Egyptian gods with Re, Isis, Osiris and Amon.

Ptah is the creative god par excellence: He is regarded as the demiurge who existed first of all, and who by his will thought the world. It initially conceived it by the Thought, then realized by the Verb: “Ptah designs the world by the thought of its heart and the life by the magic of its Verb gives him”. What Ptah ordered was created; in him the components of nature, fauna and flora, are contained. He also plays a part in the safeguarding of the universe and the permanence of the royal function.

He is represented under the features of a man enclosed in a coat sticking to him to the skin, wearing the divine beard and holding a sceptre, but also - in the form of Ptah Patèque- like a naked and deformed dwarf.

In the Triad of Memphis, he is the husband of Sekhmet and father of Néfertoum.

He quickly absorbs appearances of Sokaris and Taténen but also of Osiris to become Ptah-Sokar-Osiris.
