Pskov (in Russian: Псков, old Пльсковъ orthography; Estonian: Pihkva ; German: Pleskau ; Lithuanian: Pleskava ; Polish: Psków ) is a town of Russia, located at the North-West of the country, to 20 km of the border with the Estonia, on the Rivière Velikaïa. The town of Pskov is used as administrative center with the Oblast de Pskov and counted, with the census 2002, 202.780 inhabitants.
The town of Pskov is twinned with that of Arles (France) since 1976.
With the Middle Ages, it was the capital of the République of Pskov, which was detached in 1368 from the République from Novgorod.
