Psilocybine

The psilocybine is a phosphoric Ester of Acid, the 4-hydroxydiméthyltryptamine and a Alcaloïde of the type Indole with a phosphoric radical of Acid which is the Active ingredient some mushrooms hallucinogens. It was insulated at the Psilocybe S, the Conocybe S, the Panaeolus and the Stropharia S.

History

The psilocybine was isolated for the first time by Albert Hoffmann in 1958 starting from Sclérote S from the Psilocybe mexicana Heim, cultivated at the laboratory of the national Muséum of natural history of Paris by Roger Heim.

Chemistry

The synthesis is difficult and expensive, from where its scarcity.

Therapeutic use

Taking into account the strong variation of the rate of the active molecules in mushrooms with psilocybine, the therapeutic uses, in Occident, were done with the isolated molecule of psilocybine. This makes it possible to have a more precise proportioning and not to be subjected to the risks of nature.

Proportioning and duration of activity

An effect Psychotrope appears as of 1 Mg of psilocybine even if the current amounts vary from 4 Mg with 10 Mg.

The effects last between 4 and 6 hours according to the proportioning and of the mode of administration. By sublingual way, the effects are felt 15 to 30 minutes after the catch.

The effects include disorders of mood, feelings of physical detachment, a Mydriase accompanied sometimes by nausea S.

In the case of a Bad trip, the effects will be rather negative, the Euphorie and the extase which can leave room to the Angoisse and the Peur.

The psilocybine does not cause a physical Dépendance, and its somatic Toxicité is quasi null.

On the other hand as any substance Hallucinogène it can be the cause of serious and durable psychiatric accidents, sometimes as of the first catch. One speaks then about “persistent post-hallucinatory syndrome”, namely anguishes, phobias, confusional state, depression even puffed out delirious acute.

Legislation

The psilocybine is a regulated substance, quoted in table I of the Convention on the psychotropic substances of 1971.
