Psi is a Free software customer of Instant messaging for the network open standard Jabber.

Psi is developed under free license GNU LPG and is available on the operating systems Windows, Mac OS X and GNU/Linux, the free graphic library Qt of Trolltech being employed for a bearing multi-platform.

One of most popular among the users of customers Jabber, Psi is light, has a simple ergonomics and is integrated into the graphical interface of the various supported platforms. This customer manages a great number of traditional functionalities of Jabber/XMPP while respecting close the standards.

Last version 0.11, is a large projection because it supports completely the open standard XMPP (integrating the privacy lists ), but also the discussions groups some with the standard million u.a. (Multi-To use Cat, with orders of administration), and many other functionalities awaited of which the bearing towards the graphic library Qt 4.

Functionalities

Psi integrates the following functionalities: ; Resources: the resource is fields free to fill manually, this one makes it possible to differentiate various connections of the same account Jabber. Psi makes it possible to choose its name of resource but also to see and to select with which resource one wishes to address oneself during a discussion for each contact. ; Priorities: allows to fix the priority of the customer ; Services: allows to discover the whole of the proposed services by the Jabber waiters, for example the directories, transport, the chatrooms, the proxy of transfer of file, the services PubSub (publication of information and subscriptions), etc ; Directories: allows to carry out searchs for Jabber users ; Transport (footbridges): allows to connect itself to the other communication networks like the instant messagings owners ICQ/AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Gadu-Gadu, but also open network IRC or the e-mail and the SMS ; Discussions in group: allows to create rooms of discussions and to invite contacts there ; Coding SSL/TLS between Psi and the waiter: information does not forward in light between the customer and the waiter ; Coding OpenPGP between users: information does not forward in light between two customers ; Topics of icons: the icons of the contacts, agents and transport can be downloaded and used ; Topics of emoticons: the icons can also be parameterized ; Transfer of file: allows to transfer directly from the files between two customers on a lan or via a proxy when the customer is behind a NAT

Very next version 0.11 will integrate: ; XMPP: total compatibility of the standard of the IETF ; Multi-to use Cat (MUC): rooms of discussions with orders of administration ; Voice by Jingle: in version alpha (experimental), not-compiled, and only for Linux and Mac OS X

The next versions will probably have: ; Misadventures: small imagettes user ; Ad hoc orders: to send orders ; Remote control of the customers: to change the statute of another customer, or to consult the messages and cats in absence or inactivity, etc ; Personal events: listened musics and mood present, based on the standard of publication and PubSub subscription ; Transfers of file by Jingle: allowing to free itself from the barriers network, in particular NAT
