The kind Pseudotsuga belongs to the family of the Pinacées which gathers in particular the pine S and other species of Conifère S. In North America, it pushes especially on the Pacifique coast since the California, to British Columbia with the Canada.
General information
In France, the principal species of
Pseudotsuga is the
Pseudotsuga menziesii.
The Douglas one is currently not very sensitive to the insects and pathogenic but the future will say if it can be seriously threatened following the example spruce by the scolytes), in particular in the context of the climate change. As it was frequently introduced on forest stations unsuited to its requirements one can fear risks. Deteriorations today are usually observed on these stations in particular since the episodes of heat wave and dryness observed since 2003.
