Psammead

The Psammead is a character of Littérature of childhood and youth created by Edith Nesbit. It is about a Fée of the Sable S, being able exaucer any wish.

It appears in three novels: Five Children and It (1902), The Phoenix and the Carpet (1904) and The Story off the Amulet (1906).

Children on vacation close to Camden Town, Cyril, Anthea, Robert and Jane discover it while digging in sand.

Its physical appearance is strange and composite: it has tentacular eyes like snails, of the ears of bat, a body covered with fur and hands and feet of monkey.

Very old, it has an irritable character.
