Prurit

The prurit is a frequent Symptôme (in particular in Dermatologie) which recovers a feeling of itching of the Peau, generally in connection with dermatological lesions (sometimes also without cause: it is the prurit sine materia ).

Physiological bases

The principal agent responsible for itchings is the Histamine, chemical molecule released by the Mastocyte S, and the basophilic Polynucléaire S (cells circulating in blood and taking part in the Immune system). Histamine, when it is released, binds to nervous receivers of the skin and causes the prurit. The feeling is transmitted by same nervous fibers as those which lead the painful feelings to the brain (the beam spinothalamic).

Causes of the prurit

There exist many pathological causes:

  • dermatological Diseases: Eczema, Urticaria, Dermatite atopic, Lucite S, Toxidermie
  • Infectious illness: Cutaneous parasitoses (Scale), Dermatophytie S, Phthiriasis of the body and the scalp, Chicken pox, HIV, Papillonite hepatic… etc
  • Diseases with a Ictère by Cholestase where the combined bilirubine deposited in the skin irritates the nervous terminations.
  • Hémopathie : Maladie of Be occupied (prurit with water), Maladie of Hodgkin.
  • Prurit within the framework of a parasitophobie (Syndrome of Eckbaum).
  • Certain cancers: Lung cancer. .etc
  • Prurit sine materia (prurit idiopathic, prurit senile, prurit psicosomatic)
