Province of the West (Cameroun)

The Province of the West is one of the ten provinces of the Cameroun. It is the cradle of the ethnos group Bamiléké. Its chief town is Bafoussam.

Climate

Tropical soudanien with 2 great seasons: one season dries which goes from November-December to May-June, one rain season which begins in June - until November July - December.

The temperatures oscillate between 18 °C and 30 °C on average with a strong variation day laborer: the average temperature is of 25 °C.

West-Cameroun based its richness on the agro-pastoral production in particular that of the coffee arabica particularly adapted to the high valleys of the province and gathering Bandjoun, Bafoussam, Mamendjou, Bamougoum, Bayangam, Bangou and Baham.

Two types of agricultural production there are practiced:

  1. a market-gardening production (potatoes, tomatos, carrots, French beans, corn…) ;
  2. a production of revenues: coffee Arabica and Robusta, agricultural cooperative growers and the.

Geography

The relief is mountainous with many plates and plains.

The West is a pleasant area with its hills, its mountains which offer natural sites which are worth the turning (falls of the Mifi, of Ekom, solid mass of Manengouba, Nfou lakes, Baleng,…).

One finds there a multitude of cheffery S of which most famous are those of Bandjoun, Bafoussam and Bamougoum.
