Province of Valence
The province of Valence (in Spanish Provincia of Valencia , in Valencian Província of Valencia ) is one of the three province S integral of the autonomous Communauté of Valence, in the east of the Spain,
It is bordering on the provinces of Alicante, Castellón (in the autonomous community of Valence), and Albacete and Cuenca (in the autonomous community of Castille it Manche). In the east, it is bathed by the Mediterranean.
A fraction of its territory, the Rincón de Ademuz, is wedged between the provinces of Cuenca and Teruel (Aragon).
It is populated of: 2267503 people, of which thirds live in the capital, Valence, which is also that of the autonomous community. There are 265 communes in the province.
It is represented by 16 deputies with the Congrès of the deputies and by 36 deputies with the Parlement of the Valencian Community.
Population
Between the censuses of 1857 and 1910, the province of Valence was the second province most populated of Spain, behind that of Barcelona; since 1920, year when it was exceeded by Madrid, it was the third Spanish province in term of population. According to the census of the Spanish National institute of Statistics of 2005, it counts 2 416628 inhabitants, which accounts for 5,48% of the total of the Spanish population. One estimates at 8,06% the percentage of the population resulting from immigration in the province.
