The Province of Tarata is one of the 4 provinces which compose the Région of Tacna in the south of the Peru.
It is limited:
- in north by the Province of Candarave and the Area of Puno,
- in the east by the Bolivia,
- in the south and the west by the Province of Tacna.

The province has a surface of 2.819,96 km ² and is divided into 8 districts:

Population
It was estimated at 8.670 inhabitants in 2002.
Capital
The capital of the province is the town of Tarata.
