Province of Suruga
The province of Suruga (駿河国, Suruga No kuni ) is a old province Japan which corresponds to the part is current Préfecture of Shizuoka. Suruga was bordered by the provinces of Izu, Kai, Sagami, Shinano and Totomi.
The old capital was located close to the current town of Shizuoka, which was already more the big city of the province at the time feudal.
During the major part of the Period Sengoku, the province was with the hands of the Clan Imagawa. After Yoshitomo Imagawa was demolishes by Nobunaga Oda, however, Imagawa were destroyed and the province taken by Shingen Takeda. Later, Ieyasu Tokugawa assigned the province with the one of its allies.
