Province of Rome

The province of Rome is an administrative division Italy, pertaining to the area of the Latium, which gathers 121 communes. Of a surface of 5.351 km ², it counts 3.814.103 inhabitants. Its Chef-lieu is Rome (capital of the Italian republic).

It is bordering in north on the provinces of Viterbe and Rieti, with the east of the area of the the Abruzzi (Provinces of Aquila) and of Frosinone and with the south of the Province of Latina. In the west, it is bordered by the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Wedged inside the territory of the province, is the State of the the Vatican, whose existence was recognized by the Accords of Lateran (1929).

Geography

The province of Rome extends from the coast from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Sabatini mounts and to the mounts from the Tolfa, while passing by the Mignone and Torre Astura.

It is irrigated by the the Tiber and its Affluent the Aniene.
One finds there many Lac S, almost all of ic origin Volcan, of which most important are the lakes of Bracciano, of Albano and Nemi.

Apart from Rome, the most important localities are Albano Laziale, Anzio, Ciampino, Civitavecchia, Fiumicino, Guidonia Montecelio, Monterotondo, Nettuno, Tivoli and Velletri.

The cleansing of the Roman campaigns allowed the development of agricultural activities, whose principal ones are the production of Fruit S and Légume S, the Viticulture and the Oléiculture.
The fishing has only one local importance. On the other hand, the breeding of the Bétail is important.
