Province of Owari
The province of Owari (尾張国, Owari No kuni ) is a old province Japan which corresponds to the western half of current the Préfecture of Aichi.
The old capital of Owari was located close to Inazawa in the western part of the province. Two of the most famous war leaders of the Period Sengoku, Nobunaga Oda and Hideyoshi Toyotomi, were originating in the province of Owari, and Oda had a castle with Kiyosu.
Ieyasu Tokugawa establishes the shogunat Tokugawa in its castle of Nagoya and gave to the one its wire the stronghold of Owari, the greatest stronghold of the possessions of the Clan Tokugawa apart from the shogunat itself.
It was amalgamated in 1872 with the Province of Mikawa to form the current prefecture of Aichi.
