Province of Mino

Mino (美濃国; - No kuni) is an old province of the Japan which was located on an area corresponding to the southern part of current the Préfecture of Gifu. Mino was bordered by the provinces of Hida, Ise, Mikawa, Omi, Owari and Shinano.

The old provincial capital was located close to the modern city of Tarui, but the most important city of the province, from its castle was Gifu.

During the six years of the era Wadō, work took place in the province to widen the road connecting the province of Mino to that of Shinano

At the beginning of the Period Sengoku, the province was directed by the Clan Toki, which lost of it control with the profit of the Clan Saito. The Saito clan lost it then forced to be combined with the Clan Oda. The province is one of the first to fall under control from Nobunaga Oda, so much and so that its heirs controlled it even after the death of this one and the rise with the capacity of Hideyoshi Toyotomi.

The Bataille of Sekigahara took place on a side of the province of Mino.
