Province of Medio Campidano

The Medio Campidano is the name of a news Province of the autonomous region of the Sardinia, (Italy), created by the regional law n° 9 of the July 12th 2001, within the framework of the recutting of the area in eight provinces which is operational since May 2005.

It includes/understands the territory of the central part of the Campidano, today belonging to the Province of Cagliari.

Provisional chief town: Sanluri.
Principal communes: Guspini, San Gavino Monreale, Villacidro, Sanluri.

The province will be operational only after the provincial elections of the 8 and May 9th 2005.

By the regional law n° 10 of the October 13rd 2003, the communes of Escolca, Gergei, Guasila, Isili, Mandas, Nurri, Nuragus, Nurallao, Orroli, Samatzai, Serri, Villanova Tulo were finally allotted to the Province of Cagliari
