Province of Málaga
The province of Málaga is located on the southernmost coast of the Spain, in the autonomous Communauté of Andalusia. It is bordered by the sea the Mediterranean in the south, and is bordering on the provinces of Cadiz, Seville, Cordoue and Grenade.
Its surface is of 7.308 km ². Its population rises with 1.330.010 inhabitants (in 2002), whose two fifths live in the provincial capital, Málaga. The average density of population is of 181,99 hab. /km ².
Most of the economic activity of the province is related to the industry of tourism, in particular in all the seaside resorts of the Costa del Sol, attended by million estivants each summer.
The mountainous back-country however is not stripped of interest, even if it is not the main cause of stay of the holiday makers.
The province groups hundred municipalities. Apart from the provincial capital, the main cities are Marbella, Vélez-Málaga, Antequera, Nerja and Ronda.
