Province of Imperia

The province of Imperia is an Italian province of the Ligurie, chief town Imperia. It is located at the Is the Alpes-Maritimes and in the south of the Piedmont (Province of Coni). Its code and number plate are IM .

It counts 204.233 hab. (176 hab. /km ²) on a mountainous territory, for the majority concentrated on the coast.

Geography

The province is a small territory wedged between the Alps and the sea. The principal cities are Imperia, Sanremo, Vintimille.

The valleys, still very agricultural, are depopulated. One finds important villages there, like Dolceacqua or Apricale, equipped with a recognized historical heritage.
