Province of His

The province of His is an Italian province located in the area of the Toscane. Its provincial capital is His. In this province surroundings 260.000 people live. it is bordering in north with the Province on Florence, in the North-East with the Province of Arezzo, in south-west with various provinces of the area of the Ombrie, in south-east with the area of the Latium, in the south with the Province of Grosseto and finally in the North-East with the Province of Pisa.

Geography

The province of His is divided into 7 areas economic, geographical and administrative distinct:

The big cities of the province are His, Poggibonsi, Colle di Val of Elsa, San Gimignano, Sinalunga and Montepulciano.

History

The Province of His derives directly from the Compartimento Senese of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
En 1860, to him was added some detached communes of the Province of Arezzo: Sarteano, Cetona, Chianciano Term, Sinalunga, of Torrita di Siena and Chiusi.

Nature

In 1996, the Provincial Administration of His created 11 natural reserves which on the whole occupy about 8000 ha of a territory of a very great value for the environment, the natural science and the culture. One finds there animal species and vegetable rare and of a great scientific interest.

The reserves were created formally by the council of the Province of His (deliberations n° 38 of the 3/21/1996 and n° 127 of the 7/17/1996) as envisaged in article 15 of law (LR) 49/95 Règles on the parks, the natural reserves and surfaces protected from local interest .

11 natural reserves constitute a system of protected areas of which the goal is to guarantee and promote, through coordinated actions, the conservation and the valorization of the environment, the landscape and the historico-cultural inheritance.

Four reserves Basso Merse, Farma, Pietra and Cornate and Fosini also extend on the territory from the Province from Grosseto.

The finality of the management of these reserves is the conservation of the ecosystems, the promotion and the rise of the production activities and leisure, the development of the scientific activities and research and the promotion of coordinated activities of information and environmental education.

Dimensions and the configuration of each reserve depend on the characteristics and the distribution of the resources to be protected. The surfaces vary from a minimum of 240 ha to 2000 ha.
