Province of Forlì-Césène

The province of Forlì-Césène is a Italian province, in the area of Emilie-Romagna. It is named according to its two principal cities: its provincial capital Forlì and the town of Césène ( Cesena in Italian).

Geography

Located on the axis Milan - Ancone, crossed by the Via Æmilia and the highway of a14 Sun. In North the area of Bologna, in the East the area of Ferrare, in the West the the Apennines and the South the Adriatic .

History

The history is that of all the area Emilie-Romagna, since the oldest times, since on the Romagna was inhabited already in prehistory, according to the many archaeological excavations: the most famous site is located at the Mont Poggiolo (Italian Montepoggiolo) which belongs to the commune of Castrocaro Terme with 10Km of Forlì where thousands of parts and objects going back to approximately 800.000 years were discovered.

All the big cities comprise an historical center with old fortifications.

The saddest event of the history is the birth of Mussolini in the town of Predappio to 15 km of Forlì.

Economy

The province of Forli produces olive oil and beautiful industries. As in all the area Emilie-Romagna, this province is remarkable by its agriculture. The fertility of the plain which extends until the Adriatique, united with the climate, allows a very rich agriculture especially based on export.

This province of Romagna used a long time the romagnol like current language until in the Sixties. She is spoken more only by the old ones.

  • urban Tourism: in the main cities of the province (Forli, Césène)
  • rural Tourism: On all the hills of the Apennines (Castrocaro Term, Bertinoro, Bagno di Romagna). Recommended: the agro-tourisms , like the firm inns in France, but with a gastronomy of very first plan. All the offered products with the cosommation must be produced on the place even (except salt of course). The meals, very heavy, are based on the traditional kitchen generally made in family (what explains the very gravitational prices).

Administration

It is the province par excellence of the Romagna and the area of Emilie-Romagna.

The current name was officialized in 1992, when the zone was detached which constitutes the Province of Rimini.

It was previously called Province of Forlì with the registration FO . In 1992, therefore, appears the denomination of Province of Forlì-Césène , Décret legislative of March 6th, 1992, modifying in 1998 the automobile registration in FC .

From the administrative point of view, the province of Forlì-Césène divided its Territory into two District, that of Forlì and that of Césène; also including/understanding three communities of mountain: that of Acquacheta , that of Apennin Forlivese and that of Apennin Cesenate.
