Province of Byumba

The Province of Byumba was, of 2002 to 2006, the denomination of the one of the 12 provinces of the Rwanda (these entities were called, before the administrative reform of 2002, of the " préfectures"). Byumba was the " capitale" (or, sometimes, according to certain Rwandan official texts, the " chief-lieu"). The territorial reform of January 1st, 2006 made it disappear by amalgamating it with the province from Ruhengeri and part of the old province of rural Kigali, thus giving rise to a news Province of north.
