Province of Almería
The Province of Almería is Eastern of the eight provinces of the Andalusian Autonomous Communauté. Its capital is called also Almería.
The code ISO 3166-2 of the Province of Almería is ES-AL .
It is known for its extreme aridity, this area being among the rare ic regions Désert of Europe, which made of it Mecque Western spaghetti . Almería attracts a great number of immigrants who want to work in agriculture " under serre" who developed especially around El Ejido.
In spite of the proximity of the the Mediterranean, the Cabo de Gata, to 30 km of Almeria, undergoes the consequences of the microclimate which makes the hottest spot of it and most arid of Europe. Miniature dunes, cliffs of basalt, marshes salt-water and beaches are spread there on tens of kilometers around a field arranged since 1987 in natural park (33 700 H). The sierra of Spoiled, almost desert, knows 3 000 hours of sunning per annum and receives less than 200 mm of rain per annum. Overpowered heat, these imposing landscapes are eroded by the wind.
In 2000, violent attacks on immigrants against the immigrants had made a hundred casualties. Almería attracts also many the European tourists who benefit from the soft climate and the beautiful beaches of the area.
