Province of Aki
Aki (安芸国; Aki No kuni , literally “country of the autumn”) or Geishū (芸州) was a Japanese province of the Région of Chūgoku which corresponds to the western part of current the Préfecture of Hiroshima, on the island of Honshū.

Aki is surrounded by the provinces of Suo, Iwami and Bingo, and faced the Province of Iyo located on the island of Shikoku.
History
Starting from the end of the time Heian (12th century), the province of Aki becomes known as being the site of the Sanctuaire of Itsukushima, to which Taira No Kiyomori made gift of a new complex of buildings and Sûtra S.During the time Sengoku, the province is the seat of the Clan Mori, until in 1600. In 1555, after its victory against Harutaka Sweats with the Bataille of Itsukushima, Monatari Mori installs its capacity since this province in all the west of Honshū.
Terumoto Mori, one of the five principal advisers of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, takes the party of the son of this last in the camp of Mitsunari Ishida with the Bataille of Sekigahara, in 1600. Being in the losing camp, it then loses Aki and much its other fields.
In 1619, after one short period during which the province is directed by Masanori Fukushima, Nagaakira Asano is named Daimyo Hiroshima with a stronghold of: 420000 Koku . Its descendants keep this station until the Restauration of Meiji.
In 1871, the province of Aki became the Préfecture of Hiroshima, which takes its current form after fusion with the province close to Bingo.
