Protestant worship
The worship is one one more or less long duration moment that the Christian passes with God. It is the privileged moment where the faithful one is presented to God and honor returns to him. It is also time to go available to the Word of God, and to let itself change by it. This worship can be Community, individual or family.
Protestant values of the worship
According to Protestant logic, the worship is a space of freedom whose God is the center. Thus, it presents forms as multiple as the movements which form Protestantism, but is always organized with the glory of the Lord.
The protesting worship is not practiced exclusively in a Temple, which is not regarded as a crowned building, but like a Community place. It does not comprise any sacrificial aspect, unlike the Messe Catholique.
Multiple forms
The Community worship
The Community worship is that of the parochial assembled or generally joined together congregation the Sunday morning (or the Saturday for the adventist ). In great Protestant diversity, the worship includes/understands, in a way more or less planned, some of the following elements, according to the Churches:
- a time of reception;
- a time of reconsecration with God (repentance, return to God, conversion);
- a time of praise, which can take several forms: songs (Anthems and praises, Gospel, etc), reading of the Bible, testimonys, etc;
- central element and almost always present, in all the Protestant currents, the Preaching , comment inspired of one or more biblical texts ;
- a time of prayer, generally spontaneous (one or more people address to God) in the evangelic Églises, or liturgical in the Churches luthéro - reformed (an officiant addresses to God for all the community);
- a time of sending, which encloses the time of worship, often by a song.
The Baptême S are always celebrated during a worship. The Holy cene, or meal of the Lord, is not celebrated weekly by all the Churches.
The biblical texts proposed (list of the Protestant federation) for Sunday are currently common with those of the catholic liturgical year. The Community worship is generally chaired by a minister: Pasteur or laic Preacher, but certain Churches (or certain circumstances) allows another more collegial or more spontaneous operation.
In the Community worship, a more or less great place is left, according to various theologies, with a more or less structured liturgy, consistent in liturgical or spontaneous prayers (praise, repentance, intercession, dedication to God), in assertions of faith (announces grace or forgiveness of God, confession of faith, testimony personal), in spiritual songs (in particular the Psaumes in the reformed tradition).
Certain denominations (adventist Church of the seventh day) include in their Community moment of the worship, a time of study and division of the Bible.
The individual worship
According to the Protestant thought, God is always available to spend a time with us, at which moment that it is. Thus, any person can address herself to Him in a spirit of prayer and recognition. The individual worship generally consists of praises, reading personal of the Bible and in prayer which answers him, generally spontaneous prayer. There exist lists of daily readings and booklets of short comments to help the believer in this worship.
family worship
Halfway between these two forms, the family worship consists of biblical reading and comment and prayer and song, under the presidency of the household head in the morning the evening, or before a family meal.
