Protectorate of Arabia of the South
In 1959, several territories are detached from the Protectorat of Aden to form the Fédération of the Arab emirates of the South, renamed and extended in 1962 under the name of Fédération of Arabia of the South which includes as of the following year the State of Aden. Four territories choose to remain in-outside federation, and are thus known for the period 1962 - 1967 under the name of Protectorat of Arabia of the South . It is about the State Quaiti de Shihr and Mukalla, of the State Kathiri de Sai' a, Sultanat Mahri de Qishn and Socotra, emirate of Wahidi Bir Ali, and some of the entities of the High Yafa (wedged between the Federation and the Yemen): State of the Mawsata and sheikhats of Busi, Dhubi and Hadrami.
The States of the Protectorate of Arabia of the South have one moment planned to set up a concurrent federation of their Western neighbors, whom they projected to baptize State of the Hadramaout. It was also a question of a federation between this new entity and the Saudi Arabia, which wished to lay out of a window on the Indian Ocean.
In 1967, so much the federation which protectorate are abolished and the old dissolved traditional States in the Popular republic of Yemen (Yemen of the south), integrated in 1990 in the Republic of the Yemen.
