Protection service of the eminent personages
The Protection service of the eminent personages , also known under the Initials SPHP , is a service of the French Police in load of the personal protection of the leaders or ex-leaders of the French Republic or its foreign hosts.
It includes/understands approximately 500 police officers and is based with Paris, Rue of the Suburb Saint-Honore, not far from the Elys3ee palace. It also has a permanent antenna with Strasbourg, where several European institutions sit of which the the European Parliament. Its members are recruited on contest intern within the National police force, and occupy this function for 5 years.
He is divided into four subdirectorates:
- safety of the presidency of the Republic;
- safety of the French eminent personages, which includes/understands:
- the Group of safety of the Prime Minister (GSPM),
- the Group of safety of the Minister of Interior Department (GSMI);
- safety of the high foreign personalities, which includes/understands:
- the Group of support of eminent personages (GAHP);
- operational management.
Created under the name of Services of the official trips (VO) after the Assassination of the king Alexandre {{Ier}} and of Louis Barthou to Marseilles in 1934, it was reformed and changed name into 1994, after the Suicide of Pierre Bérégovoy with the arms with the police officer in load of his protection. The men with the auricles always do not have a family life. They are generally in displacement through the country but also outside the country. They must privilege the " cible" with their own life. It is the daily newspaper of their trade.
