Prospero Colonna

Prospero Colonna (born in 1452 with Lanuvio, in the Province of Rome, in the area of the Latium - died in 1523 with Milan) was a Condottiere Italy N of the end of the 15th century and beginning of the 16th century with the service of the Papal States and Germanic Roman Holy roman Empire during the Guerres of Italy.

Biography

Grand-nephew of the pope Martin V, Prospero Colonna acquired a reputation of large general in the war against Charles VIII, king de France, who had invaded the Royaume of Naples, 1495, and assisted Gonzalve de Cordoue. Entered thereafter with the service of the duke of Milan, it was beaten and taken by the French with Villafranca in Piedmont, 1515; but it beat them in its turn with the Bataille of the Shack and took Genoa, 1522.
