Prosper Saint-Germain

Prosper Saint-Germain of his true name Jean-Baptiste, Prosper Marie says Saint-Germain (1804-1875) is a painter and Illustrateur French.

Life

He was born with Paris in a family from tapestry makers and hand braid makers: the Marie, originating in German St in Bush hammer and combined with several painters: Nattier, To stop and Schall.

His/her father, Philippe Marie says Saint-Germain, and his/her mother, Therese Plaideau, come to live with Morlaix where Prosper becomes the friend of the writer Emile Souvestre, for which it illustrates several works. It receives a traditional formation in his cousin the painter Alexandre Colin. Of return in Brittany, it opens in Morlaix a course for young people then, in 1851, is named in succession of Romagnési, professor of drawing of the School of the Navy with Brest. Put in disability after the war free-Prussian, he dies with Paris in 1875.
