Prosper Estieu
Prosper Estieu (Fendeille, July 7th 1860 - Pamiers, December 11th 1939) is a Poète occitan.
Propser Estieu wrote French poetries and in Occitan, published in the Modern Poésie , the Southernmost Revue , the Revue Félibrienne , etc He was the founder of the review Montségur and a friend of Déodat Roché, which he met in June 1900 with Rennes-the-Castle. Prosper Estieu was teacher there laic. Déodat Roché devoted a conference to him on March 22nd, 1961 with the Faculty of Arts of Toulouse, as well as an article of 18 pages entitled has Prosper Estieu, poet occitan and cantor of Montségur in the Cahier of Studies Cathares N°9 of 1961.
Its work occitane was used for other writers of the Languedoc or the Limousin in their attempt to unify the language. One of them was Antonin Perbosc. The system says “Perbosc-Estieu” is at the base of the “modern” occitan.
