Prosper Bigeard
Prosper Bigeard (Saumur, 1850 - Angers, 1926), industrial angevin.
Biography
As soon as after its secondary studies and by the episode of the War of 1870 which it passes under the flags, it is named with the gas works of Saumur in 1871. Then it leaves to Agen to direct the Gas-company, briquetteries and lime kilns in 1876. In 1889, it goes back to Angers as director of the Gas-company. During its employers' career, it forms also part of the Chamber of commerce of 1890 with 1896 and member of the Court of the arbitration of 1897 with 1907. With the political plan, he is elected mayor of Pellouailles and makes change the name of the commune of Pellouailles into Pellouailles-the-Vines. He dies in Angers on March 29th, 1926.A street of Angers bears its name and shelters houses known as H.B.M (Dwellings at a cheap rate) built by the architect Pierre Defois in the years 1923 - 1925.
