Propagandhi is a group of punk rock'n'roll/hardcore founded in 1986 and originating in Winnipeg to the Canada. It is composed of Chris Hannah (guitar), Todd Kowalski (low) and Jord Samolesky (battery). Chris and Todd share the role of singer.
Extremely committed, they distill a punk rapid and pure, influenced by the Speed metal, protestor and critical: the group is known for its standpoint antimondialists, anarchists, pro-feminists, antifascists, etc, like for its promotion of a lifestyle Végétalien.
They founded G7 Welcoming Committee, which is used to them as recording company for Canada. Elsewhere, their albums are distributed by Fat Wreck Chords, in spite of their recent dissensions with Fat Mike concerning the initiative Rock Against Bush in which they refused to take part. In their last album, the song " Rock For has Sustainable Capitalism" attacks directly Fat Mike and a page of the booklet shows it in photograph tightening the hand of John Kerry, symbol, with the eyes of Propagandhi of the collusion with the system to be fought.
Propagandhi is also known for the jokes of its members: Chris Hannah thus adopted the pseudonym of Glen Lambert for the last album, Potemkin City Limits , G7 Welcoming Committee having previously announced to it (false) departure of the group of Chris. Many fans let themselves take with the trickery which nourished a great number of arguments between fans on Internet.
John K. Samson, founder, guitarist and singer of the group indie The Weakerthans is a former member of Propagandhi of which it is separated in 1997, replaced by Todd.
August 14th 2006, " The Beaver" (of its true name Dave Guillas, of Giant Sounds) joined the formation under second guitarist. In parallel of this advertisement, it was mentioned of the reference of Glen Lambert and return of Chris Hannah within the group, obviously always follower of a shifted humor.
