Progression on cord
The progression on cord indicates the whole of the techniques used in Escalade, in Canyonning, Spéléologie, or Alpinisme to move vertically using a Corde.
Abseil
See also: Abseil
The abseil allows the descent of a vertical course. The general method is to use a Descendeur fixed on its Baudrier to slow down the descent on the cord.
Increase on cord
There exist many techniques of gone up on cord , according to the material available and the length to be gone up. One distinguishes the case or the increase is envisaged at the beginning of the race (e.g. running in Spéléologie), and the case or the increase is accidental (e.g. falls in crack in a race of Alpinisme, blocking of cord in Canyoning).
increase by blocker
This technique is generally used in speleology even in canyoning. The hardware requirement is on the one hand a blocker of chest which binds the cross-belt to the cord, and on the other hand a bloqueuse handle (upward handle or “Jumar”) connected to a pedal to rise on the cord. This technique makes it possible to make long increase in a comfortable way, but requires specific material.
increase by shunt
These methods of help make it possible to be left a difficult situation by authorizing the increase on short distances. The basic principle is the clothes industry of 1 even 2 handles/pedals of fortune using shunts or nodes autobloquants (Nœud of Machard, Nœud of Prusik).
reeving
This technique is different from the preceding ones on fixed cord: it allows the increase of a rope partner in a difficult situation, for example a fall of crack. The principle is to create a reduction using snap hooks even of pulleys.
