Program Explorer
The program Explorer is a series of artificial satellite and space probes to scientific goal, launched by the the United States. The probe Explorer 1 was the first artificial satellite put into orbit around the Ground by the United States, the 1958.
History
In the beginning, this program was proposed by the US Army in order to place one 1st satellite orbits about it during the international geophysical Année of 1958. It was rejected in favor of the project Vanguard of the US Navy.
But in front of the delay taken on the Soviet Union, since it had put on orbit Sputnik 1, the October 4th 1957, it was implemented in urgency and allowed launching To explore 1 a few months after Sputnik.
Begun again by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Explorer program is the longest space program of the History, with 78 launchings.
