Program Discovery

The program Discovery , launched by NASA includes/understands series of not very expensive and very targeted missions spaciales. This program constitutes the realization of the design of the space missions " faster, less expensive, more performantes" , enacted by the president of NASA, Daniel S Goldin. The missions of Discovery differ from the traditional missions of NASA, where the objetifs are preset, instead of that, the missions of which arranged according to an organization whose coùuts are limited. The proposers of the missions can be teams in the world of industry, small companies, the governmental laboratories and the universities, under the supervision of a " Principal investigator ". The proposals are then adopted by a process of competing revision. The make-ready time of the missions, of the beginning to launching, should not exceed 36 months. Currently, for the advertisement of opportunities of 2006, the coùut is limited to 425 million dollars.
