Profibus

Profibus ( Drunk Field Processes ) is the name of a type of Bus ground invented by Siemens and become little by little a standard of communication in the world of industry.

Bus PROFIBUS-DP ( p eriphery D ecentralized) is used for the order of Capteur S, Actionneur S or programmable automats by a central order.

Also used for the connection of a “distributed intelligence”, therefore a setting in network of several orders under the other (approximately like the PROFIBUS-FMS). Transmission of the data up to 12 Mbit/s on a STP, UTP, ftp.

Profibus was included (with others) in the recommendation CEI 61158.

The majority of the automats mho have a Profibus-DP interface for the dialog with the PC of programming, also supporting protocol MPI. Certain models propose even one 2nd Profibus-DP interface.

One recognizes a Profibus-DP network easily with the color of his cable: purple. By opening it, one distinguishes 2 wire: a green and a red, named " A" and " B". In general, the Profibus connectors are connectors DB9 more or less standard. The wire " A" is connected to the pine n°3 connector DB9, while the wire " B" is connected to the pine n°8.

Like many buses of ground, Profibus-DP is based on a connection Rs485. There exists an association with not-lucrative goal whose site is located at this address.
