The Professor Choron (born the September 21st 1929 - died the January 10th 2005 with Paris), of his true name Georges Bernier , is a Humoriste French cofounder of the newspaper Hara-Kiri.
To the return, it came from there to work in the press. It was initially as hawker then chief of the sales of a satirical newspaper of the time, Zero . It is there that there met in particular François Cavanna, with which he founded in 1960 the periodical Hara Kiri, to which his name, with that of the draftsmen Topor, Reiser, Gébé, Wolinski, Dimitri and Cabu, will remain forever attached.
In 1962 - after the first prohibition -, the drafting of the newspaper passes from the street Choron to the street of Montholon and adopts the editions of the Public garden like company name.
Very near to Jean-François Devay, director of the newspaper Minute, financed by the popular singer Juliette Gréco and the airframe manufacturer Marcel Dassault, it put, by impecuniosity, its drafting at the disposal of this weekly magazine of right-hand side which will become in 1990, of extreme right-hand side.
It had to decide, with its team of drafting, to change this name into Charlie Hebdo, to ignore a prohibition to appear weekly magazine in November 1970 following a title considered causing: “Tragic Ball with Colombey: a death” in allusion to died of the General de Gaulle (and in reference to the fire of the discotheque of the 5-7 of Saint-Laurent-du-Pont which had made 146 died and which had also been the subject of a title of Hara-kiri hebdo: the ball continues during work ).
In was these newspapers Professor Choron at the same time man of press (administrative disputed and “person in charge” of the bankruptcy of the first Charlie Hebdo in December 1981) and inspirer - more than writer? A whole generation of contemporary humorists (Null the, for example) would have briskly taken as a starting point its repertory.
He wrote also songs, in the songs kind of staff waiting room. The singer Renaud invited it to ensure his first part the Olympia - occasion for the Professor to be made hoot by the young public according to 1981.
Its last title of press will have been Mouise , sold by hawkers, because of the censure in kiosks.
He is the father of the actress and humorist Michele Bernier.
Professor Choron died in the Hôpital Necker of a Leucémie. He is buried in Paris, with the Cimetière of Montparnasse (26e division) with his wife Odile Vaudelle (1934-1985) - four lines in the west of the tomb of Maupassant.
