The professional federation of the journalists of Quebec (FPJQ) was founded in 1969. It gathers 1.875 journalists in 250 media of information.

The FPJQ wishes to defend the interests of the Québécois journalists and to advance the Freedom of press. It intervenes with the Conseil of press of Quebec and it denounces the Concentration of the press and the police Perquisition S.

61% of its members are men and most of its members works in the daily newspapers (696), television (485), the radio (299) and the magzines (285). 58% of the journalists members are employees and 8% are executives.

The federation publishes a guide of Déontologie and offers a Carte of press to its members, who are officially recognized in their profession. Since 1976, it publishes the magazine Thirty , which informs the journalists on the conditions of their trade.

The FPJQ gives of the journalistic prices like the Prix Judith-Jasmine and the Prix Antoine-Désilets. It also gives of the purses like the North-South Bourse, the Bourse Quebec-Japan and the Bourse Great reports.
