Production control computer-assisted
A software of CAM, Production control computer-assisted , is a modular programme of production control making it possible to manage the whole of the activities, related to the production, of an industrial company:

Inventory control and the purchases
- Management of orders
- Management of the products generated by these orders
- Management of the articles entering the manufacture of these products and their nomenclatures
- Forwarding of the products
- Invoicing
The software industry developed since the years 1970 a certain number of computer tools making it possible to better manage the production under its various aspects: Work orders (OFF) - follow-up of stocks - follow-up of times - management of the costs.
The CAM is in particular characterized by a system of restocking in products and components called calculation of the net requirements or CBN.
The CBN is based on the system MRP. II is the fruit of work of the APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society).
The functions of the CAM are commonly incorporated, since the years 1990, with the integrated Business packages (ERP or PGI) which apply to all the functions of the company.
