The procaïnamide (speciality: Pronestyl®) is a Antiarythmique of Ia class in the Classification of Vaughan Williams used for the medical treatment of the cardiac arrhythmias. Based on the molecule of procaine the bond ester of the latter is replaced by a bond amide to give the procainamide. The procainamide is metabolized more slowly than procaine. The procainamide is used as local anesthetic during dental treatments.
