Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl (literally Cut of the Professionals) is a match of after-season of the championship of American football opposing the best players of the American Conference (AFC) to those of the National conference (NFC). Since 1980, it is held with Hawaii.

History

  • the origin of the Pro Bowl goes back in January 1939 when NFL created a match between the new winner of the championship and a selection of the best players of the other teams. The initiative was renewed until 1942 under the name of NFL All-Star Range then abandonnĂ©e.

  • In January 1951, NFL ressuscita the meeting in a slightly different form and very near to the current formula: she opposed until 1953 the best players of the American Conference to those of the National conference, all franknesses (clubs) confondues.

  • From 1954 to 1970 the match opposed the best players of the Conference Is with those of the Conference Ouest.

  • After 1970, the meeting took the name of AFC-NFC Pro Bowl and opposed the selections of new the American Conference ( American Football Conference, AFC ) and National conference ( National Football Conference, NFC ), taken along by the headcoaches (trainers as a chief) of the defeats teams finally of conference ( i.e. the unhappy finalist of AFC and that of NFC ).

Since 1995 the supporters take part for a third in the choice of the participants in the Pro Bowl, the two other thirds remaining within the competence of the players and the trainers.
