In the Greek Mythology, Proétos (in Greek old Προιτος / Proitos ), wire of Abas and Aglaé, is king of Tirynthe ( He. , VI, 157).

Twin brother of Acrisios (king of Argos), it quarrels as of the birth with him, until disputing the control of the valley of the Argolide.

He will exchange the throne of Tirynthe against that of Argos, with died of his Acrisios brother, the request of Persée that the stain of this manslaughter prohibited to reign on the throne of his/her Acrisios grandfather.
