In economy, one generally speaks about private sector to describe the part of an economy where the State does not intervene or little. One opposes it to the Public sector which is mainly directed by the State.

One finds in the private sector:

• banks with private capital
• the social economy, of which Mutual S, Co-operative S and the association S
• the governmental organizations.
