Printer with sublimation

One meets sometimes the technology known as of “thermal sublimation”, in particular for the autonomous Imprimante S, dedicated to the direct impression (without recourse to the Ordinateur) of Photographie S of general format (10 cm X 15 cm) (but also for higher formats like for other uses, like the color impression in very high-quality).

Thermal sublimation is a technique of concurrent impression of the Jet of ink and laser and considered as better quality, but as well more expensive.

The impression rests on the Sublimation dye contained in a fine plastic sheet, under the effect of a heated point and the impression is carried out in three passages (a passage by primary color: cyan, magenta and yellow), and a fourth to deposit a layer of protective varnish.

The Sublimation is, in physics, the direct passage of the solid state in a gas state (thus without passing by the liquid state).
