Prineville

Prineville is an American city, seat of the county of Crook in the Oregon, whose popuplation is estimated in 2006 at 9.990 inhabitants. The city was baptized name of Barney Prine, first merchant to be settled in the city.

History

The first post office of the city was built in the 1871 whereas the city was called Prine, then name was changed into Prineville in 1872, and the city was built-in 1880. The first college was built in 1902. The railway line built in 1911 passed to a score of kilometers of the city. To connect itself to the network the inhabitants decided to build their own railway line, used then for the transport of the wood produced in the area.

Geography

The city is located at the center of the Oregon. The river Crooked, an affluent of the river Deschutes, runs through the city.
