Principle of coherence of Novikov
The principle of coherence of Novikov is a Principe developed by the professor Igor Novikov in the middle of the years 1980 to solve the problem of the Paradoxe S related to the Voyage in time.
The principle of Novikov affirms that the Probabilité of existence of an event which can cause a paradox is null. Rather than to study the usual models for such paradoxes, as for example the Paradoxe of the grandfather in which a traveller in time kills his own grandfather before even as it does not meet his grandmother, Novikov used a mechanical model which was more applicable to mathematics; a ball of billiards launched in a Black hole in such way that it returns in time and enters in collision with itself, thus deviating it of its trajectory and preventing it from entering the black hole.
Novikov discovered that there existed much trajectories being able to result from the same initial conditions. For example, the ball of billiards could run up itself slightly , involving a light modification of its trajectory in the past and thus running up slightly in the past; this sequence of events (representing in fact a Loop of causality) is completely coherent and does not result in a paradox. Did Novikov find (prouvé? ) that the probability of such a coherent event was nonnull, and that the probability of the incoherent events is null, therefore whatever the actions undertaken by a traveller in time it will always end up achieving coherent actions not leading to a paradox.
The Logique of temporal loop is an application of this principle to the computers able to send information in the past.
The principle of coherence of Novikov supposes certain conditions specifying which kinds of voyages in time are possible. More precisely, it presupposes the definitivity counterfactual , which specifies that there exists only one line of time and that several lines of time are not possible or are inaccessible.
Some consider that the principle of coherence of Novikov is simply a Tautologie, i.e. a principle which cannot be false and which does not require any justification.
