Principal gear-box
The principal gear-box (BTP) is a mechanical unit transmitting on a Hélicoptère the rotation movement of the engines to the principal Rotor which ensures the bearing pressure and the displacement of the vehicle.
The helicopters are often provided with two other gear-boxes:
-
the tail rotor gearbox (BTA) which ensures the rotation of the anti-torque Rotor,
-
the intermediate gear-box (BTI) which is used as reference between the horizontal transmission and the oblique tree on the helicopters where the anti-torque rotor is located above the beam of tail (example: the Tiger of Eurocopter).
