Prince off Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame

Prince off Persia: The Shadow and the Flame ( Prince off Persia: The Shade and the Flame in France) are a Video game of action/reflection and adventure in two dimensions (2D) developed by Brøderbund and left in 1994 As always, Jordan Mechner will have put the success of its play in the scenario inspired of the tales of the Thousand and One Nights, however the remainder of the play is not less splendid for the time: basic music enchanter, fluid animation, confusing graphics and environments, a carpet of flight, a horse of flight, magic and beverages magic… Moreover the Prince acquires new movements (like crawling) and it will be able to also use magic. It is included/understood why this play is the precursor of the series such as “Tomb Raider”.

History

Although 4 years were passed between the creation of Prince off Persia and Prince off Persia: The Shadow and the Flame, it does without very little time between the two stories. All went well for the Prince: at the beginning, he is proclaimed hero for the defeat of malfaisant Jaffar. When he refuses the richness to ask the hand of the Princess as an only reward, the Sultan refuses. But thereafter, it is upset by supplications and the tears of his dear daughter, it gives to it finally its assent. The prince and the princess are married and live happy - during eleven days.

In Prince off Persia: The Shadow and the Flame, Jaffar is brought back to the life by a malefic witch who, for reasons not mentioned, hates the Prince. At the time of the eleventh day, when the Prince passes the doors of the palate, it feels a strange feeling of cold to infiltrate in him. Its royal robeses are transformed into those of the beggar who it was before saving Persia. Even the Princess does not identify it when it tries of him to speak - she asks the guards to treat it well, because he is " just a poor insane beggar! ". And, out of the shades the Prince appears - Jaffar had taken its appearance and was made pass for him. Then, the usurper orders with the guards of the palate to seize the “beggar” and they precipitate with their drawn swords on him. The prince has a only one option: to jump by a large window of glass to leave the city by the sea.

Unfortunately for the prince, the boat in which he east flees is taken in a storm. The stowaway finds himself on the beautiful shore of a foreign ground. But before, a strange woman appeared to him in her dreams and says to him to avenge his/her father and that “its heart is dying”. The strange woman asks him to join it…

The adventures of the Prince will take it along in a palate in ruin where it will discover a sword there. When it collects it, it re-examines the woman who teaches him that he is the son of Sultan of this palate is that this sword was his. The strange woman who teaches him that her father was assassinated and that his/her mother had to flee with him, right before being itself killed. The moment of revenge came! Although not-indicated, it is known as explicitly that the malefic witch seems to have been the cause of all these misfortunes.

Thereafter of a meeting with a magic Mirror in the keeps of Jaffar, the Prince had acquired, without being conscious about it the capacity to separate from its body and to advance in the world in the form of shade. When it is transformed into shade, its body collapses on the ground and remains lengthened while it haunts the neighborhoods in the form of shade. With the eyes of all it seems to be dead. It is thanks to this capacity that it succeeds has to seize “the Flame” which will enable him to overcome Jaffar.

When it returns to the palate, Jaffar tightens a trap to him, and plunges it in a deep sleep. It awakes in a nightmarish world, the wizard tries to eliminate it, but it did not expect that its rival holds the capacities of the Flames. Consequently, he flees, nevertheless the prince ends up being right of him. Its overcome spirit, the body of Jaffar is consumed in the bluish Flame of the magic of the prince. Then the prince returns to him and finds the princess. They are again plain… For the moment…
